For the next several weeks, we will be reading a few of William Shakespeare's sonnets as well as the comedy "The Taming of the Shrew" Before we begin reading his works, we need to learn a bit more about the author himself and the environment in which he worked. You will be investigating several aspects of Shakespeare's life and times, while answering several questions. The most important of these questions is: "What's the point?" Why are we wasting our time studying this guy who has been dead for hundreds of years? Hopefully the following tasks and procedures will lead you to a better understanding of why middle and high school students all around the world continue to read the works of William Shakespeare.
