At Carnegie Mellon, my academic interests are journalism, public and media relations, corporate communications, social media and design. I'm interested in pairing clear and concise writing with effective design to optimize audience benefit. My studies have focused on understanding various communication channels and how to best utilize those channels to reach niche audiences. Carnegie Mellon has allowed me to develop the technical skills to advance in a profession whose methods, strategies and techniques are constantly evolving.
I currently work as a media relations coordinator in Carnegie Mellon University's College of Fine Arts. In this role, I combine new and traditional communication methods to increase public awareness and promote the college's five schools and affiliated organizations. Some of my daily activities include: develop and maintain social networking sites; design and manage print and radio advertising campaigns; pitch local, regional and national media; write traditional and social press releases; generate weekly e-mail marketing campaign.
