About the Gateway

The data on the map above comes from an APRS gateway operated by the Carnegie Tech Radio Club (W3VC) in Pittsburgh, PA. The gateway runs on a Sun SPARC 20 workstation running the Solaris operating system.

Our Kantronics KPC-3 TNC is attached to a PC running linux which generates our APRS weather packets, as well as sending any packets it sees over to our APRS gateway.

In addition to the map on this page, APRS data is available directly from the gateway, by connecting to TCP port 14579 on MARCONI.ECE.CMU.EDU. Our data is relayed to the main APRS servers,.
