Randy Pausch Lecture: Time Management
This lecture is about time management and how to live our life without regretting missed deadlines and not spending enough time with family.
Known for creating the Alice software project Carnegie Mellon professor Randy Pausch, who has pancreatic cancer, tells about his methods of spending time effectively
based on his own experience.
5 things I found interesting
- People always wasted their time on entertainment. Despite the fact that this lecture was given in 2007, and there was no mobile phones, people still spent 28 hours a week on television.
- We should use a time journal to track our time how we do it with budget, because time is the currency of life.
- "Thank you" is a simple but still the best way to tell someone how you appreciate things. Always write thank you notes, especially if you are a boss.
- It's only a vacation if you do not check your email. If you are at home spending time with family and do not answer to work calls or emails, you are on vacation.
However, if you relax on the beach and check the email, you are not on vacation.
- Touch a piece of paper just once. You look at it, understand, work on it and that's all. Sane thing with emails: keep your inbox clean.
