I was comfortable with and to deal with a bit of grief. Poor Buster :_-(
SELF REVIEW // REACTIONS: Okay, so I'm not gonna kid myself. I wimped out on this one. I had this great vision of conquering the world
of serious art and dealing with my rape experience. All in an ideal world. After thinking it over, I realized that a critique wasn't the right
venue for that subject matter for me. I was 'fortunate'? enough to have the ability to test that when my rabbit, Buster, died. Maybe it seemed
trivial to members of my class but it wasn't trivial to me. I decided to 'just draw' and see what happened. I rendered 3 self portraits where I didn't
pay particular attention to anything, other than that I was upset. Also, I rendered 3 portraits of Buster, in which I payed more than attention to everything.
At least I thought so. When it came down to the wire, for some reason, I couldn't bare to take my drawings out of my sketchbook. I just wanted to hold on to them
as tight as possible. So, I photocopied them. (that was my tool, by the way) I hung up the photocopies in a display so that each drawing of myself had a bit of correspondence to the
rabbit drawings. I was hoping to convey the relationship between us that I didn't expect everyone to understand. I'm not so sure that worked. I was criticized
for the presentation and lack of 'putting up the real thing' but I really didn't care. I'm not sure if I even do now. I got what I wanted out of this assignment.
