ASSIGNMENT: MODIFY THE TOOL YOU ARE CURRENTLY USING

STUDENT OBJECTIVES: My goals were to both explore the limits of the colored pencil and to also improve my skills in self portraiture.

SELF REVIEW // REACTIONS: While, for the most part, I was happy with the two pieces I produced for this project, I quickly learned that MY standard for what held merit and interest was different than that of the class. The psychological seemed to be more amusing than the straight forward. I was a little surprised that the class as a whole wanted to know more about the mind games I had constructed for myself in the drawing where I held the pencil to the paper and moved it until it ran out of lead, instead of my self portrait. I suppose the line drawing was a self portrait in itself. I quickly learned that this class wasn't about time spent on a drawing (seeing as I spent what I felt was a multitude of hours on the self portrait - I later learned that was nuthin!) so much as it was about quaility and originality of thought and process. I wonder if the other side of the self portrait where the oil soaked through wouldn't have been more interesting :-)
