About Me

Abdigani Diriye

Hi. I’m Abdigani Diriye and I’m a post-doc researcher at the Human-Computer Interaction Institute at Carnegie Mellon University. I'm a member of the Social Computing Lab, and I work under Niki Kittur on ways we can leverage human- and machine-generated data to support people when sensemaking on the Web.

Prior to joining Carnegie Mellon University, I spent two enjoyable stints interning at Microsoft Research (June '10, Oct '11), and one at FX Palo Alto Labs (June '11).

I obtained my PhD in computer science from University College London under the supervision of Prof. Ann Blandford and Dr. Anastasios Tombros. My research focused on understanding the role search interfaces play during information-seeking, and how we can use this to inform design. I enjoy designing, implementing and evaluating search systems, please see my publications for examples of this.
