End Table

This is a small end table I made for my mother for Christmas 1999. She needed something to hold plants in the living room. It is all poplar and has about 10 coats of varnish in preparation for years under wet plants. The grooves in the legs were made by clamping each leg onto the table saw and then, with the saw running, raising the blade into the wood. The leg was then flipped over and run through again to make the second groove. Because the blade is round, the ends of the grooves are rounded. This has the effect of making the slot always appear taller on one side.
