[Harald's picture of me at Nephente] I am for hire! See my resume and offer me a nice job playing with computers!

Currently I am Senior Systems Mangler for the Pittsburgh SuperComputing Center.

I spend a lot of time dealing with OpenAFS and it's side effects, third-party software and it's maintenance. We use a program called depot to keep our machines in sync, whether they run AFS.

They have a pile of Unix workstations and servers. They have some supercomputers. They used to have a lot of big Cray hardware. Once they had a Cray C-916/512, or C-90 for short. The C-90 was named Mario, because it was black and gold and worth $35 million. They retired the Cray Mario two years after (the human) Mr. Lemieux turned in his sticks (the first time), at the end of May, 1999. Then they sold it on eBay.

They have had other Crays [J90, T3-D, T3-E], then we got a HUGE Compaq [then HP] Alpha system, 765 EV45s usually running in sync.

Now they're back to playing with Cray again, this time with a "Red Storm" based system.

I used to be am a systems mangler for the Library Automation [or Library Information Technology as they are calling themselves now] department of the University Libraries of Carnegie Mellon University.

I am very heavily involved with LOPSA, the League of Professional System Administrators. I am on (and currently chairing) the Leadership Committee, charged with running the elections and finding folks to eventually become the leaders of the organization.

I also help organize as well as teach for LOPSA's Sysadmin Days, two day professional training events held around the country.

Additionally I help organize the annual OpenAFS & Kerberos Best Practices Workshop.

In the past I have been very involved with the LISA conferences run by Usenix. I have taught for them, helped coordinate Invited Talks, read and reviewed papers, chaired sessions, run Birds of Feather Sessions, and run workshops.

I am a member emeritus of ABTech. Now that I am old and broken I don't get to do much anymore, except coil cables and tell war stories.

I run a mailing list for a size accepting means of living with diabetes.
