Scouting Report

Stefan is a young defenseman who was a bust for the Penguin scouting system a few years ago, but has turned into a potentially solid defenseman for the Pens. He saw a little action for the Penguins last year before being stricken with appendicitus. After recovering, he was sent back to Cleveland before being called up to the NHL in the playoffs. The Penguins expect him to remain on the roster for this entire season. He is a big stay at home defenseman hopefully in the mold of his fellow countrymen, Ulf and Kjell Samuelsson. The Penguins like his transition game, particularly how quickly he moves the puck up without overskating with it. He makes good passes, always is facing the right way, never overcommits, and hits people. If he can sustain and improve his play, he may turn out to be another Ulf, (We can all dream, can't we?).
