The basic trigonometric functions sin(x) and cos(x) provide repeating periods of 360 degrees and periods of 180 degrees between function minima and maxima. This makes such functions suitable for repetitive design elements. The functions both have domains from -∞ to ∞ and ranges from -1 to 1. Choosing a finite part of the domain such that the function starts and ends at a minimum, maximum or zero-crossing yields clean control over the end-conditions in the model. ... more on Design Patterns CA
