Program presented by: Kelsey Friday of Brownie Mary fame
Time: 12:15-1:15pm
Since the popular Pittsburgh-based alternative rock band Brownie Mary split in 2002, front-woman Kelsey Friday has been keeping busy with a successful voice-over career and with her two young sons, Cooper and Mason. The inspiration she has found as a mother has kept her tapped into her creative side and musical talent, resulting in a new self-titled 10-track album for kids of all ages.
Songs focus on poignant themes ranging from healthy eating to overcoming fear. By setting clever lyrics to her signature rock sound, Friday intends to not only entertain a new crop of young fans, but also appeal to parents – many of whom are fans of Friday’s work in Brownie Mary. “I’ve had so many parents tell me that they find themselves listening to the CD even when their kids aren’t in the car!” explains Friday.
“As a rock singer” Friday adds, “I want to entertain. But --as a mom -- I want to teach kids something positive. To accomplish this, I think it's important for parents to not just 'tolerate' the music but enjoy listening to it so they can experience it with their kids.
