Micro-Truck Baja
What is Micro Baja?
The Micro Baja competition is focused on making remote control cars run autonomously and reliably around a walled track. Although the task seems simple, building a car that can traverse the obstacles without stopping or flipping is not.Carnegie Mellon University Team
For many years, Carnegie Mellon's team has dominated the Micro Baja Competition. We have refined our team processes, making our success seem almost routine, usually making multiple top-3 finishes in all of the different classes at the Micro Baja Competition. To this day Micro Baja continues to be a priority with CMU SAE. It has proven to be an excellent way for new members to get acquainted with our organization and receive a good foundation for future projects.Past Years

This was the first year that Micro-Truck Baja was held at the largest annual SAE event: World Congress at the Cobo center in Detroit, Michigan. World Congress was absolutely amazing. We even were able to sit in "the" red Ford GT that was filmed for the super bowl commercial "The One". Micro was less satisfying: we came to micro unprepared and with older cars that had been racing for many years before. Luckily we still managed to place in 2-3 events. Despite our poor Micro performance, everyone involved in the trip had a great time. We certainly came out excited about SAE. 2004 Micro-Truck Gallery Some short films: |

The 1999 National Micro Truck Baja competition took place in November at the Cobo Center in Detroit, MI. Our team did very well at this competition, placing 3 cars in the top 5. Most of the competition was amongst ourselves for the fastest time of the day. 1999 Micro-Truck Gallery |
