Carnegie Mellon Racing
Carnegie Mellon Racing is a student chapter of the Society of Automotive Engineers. SAE is an association of professional people who are interested in Mobility (Land, Air, & Sea). It is a large organization with International Headquarters located nearby in Warrendale PA. Carnegie-Mellon has had an SAE Student Section for nearly 50 years, with membership occasionally exceding 100 students.
SAE membership requires appropriate professional interests and competence. Most of the SAE activities are associated with "hands-on" intercollegiate competitions such as Formula SAE Racing, Mini-Baja Racing, Micro-Baja Racing, Robotic Walking Machine Decathlon, and the annual Supermileage Car competition. Although much of the participation has historically been associated with Mechanical Engineering, there is increasing interest from the ECE and Robotics community as well as Design students.
