BETA NU | CARNEGIE MELLON

wave   Philanthropy "Do Good" is the basis of our fraternity. Our service project is Aid to the Blind and Service for Sight. We are involved in sight conservation efforts, assistance to people who are blind, and fundraising efforts to help the blind. Delta Gamma sisters complete at least 5 service hours each semester for sight-related causes. Members have tested young children for eye conditions, distributed material on campus about sight conservation during exam week, worked with visually impaired scout troops, and collected eyeglasses for donation. In addition, the chapter raises money annually with Anchor Slam®, a campus basketball tournament, Trivia Night and Most Beautiful Eyes®. Each year alumni and collegians raise over one million dollars for sight-related causes.

ANCHOR SLAM®
Our annual five-on-five basketball tournement raises nearly $1,000 for our national Foundation. Fraternity and Sorority members, Carnegie Mellon students, and other college students, alike, enjoy the competition and prestige of the event. Below, sisters compete in and cheer on teams during Anchor Slam.

TRIVIA NIGHT
Hosted for the first time in the Spring of 2005, Trivia Night is a fun-filled event with crazy questions and wacky obstacles. While competitors battle brains and with, DG is raising a great deal of money for Service for Sight and the Western PA School for Blind Children. Below, sisters take a break from the busy night, while others tediously race to a shave a balloon.

MOST BEAUTIFUL EYES ®
Held during Spring Carnival, DG's Most Beautiful Eyes allows people to vote on who they feel as the most beautiful eyes, by dropping their space change in jars labeled with only pictures of eyes. Participants are chosen from Carnegie Mellon's Fraternities and Sororities. Below, sisters show off their dazzling peepers in hopes of raising enough money for a Seeing Eye Dog.

CHARITY DENIM
Our new school wide philanthropy, Charity Denim is a discounted designer jean sale. All of the proceeds are donated to the Western PA School for Blind Children.

LOCAL VOLUNTEERING
A very strong bond between the Western PA School for Blind Children, Pittsburgh Vision Services, and the sisters of Delta Gamma exsists. Sisters have done everything from filing and office work to puffy-painting coloring books for children and recording books on tape. Below, sisters participate in a Blind Awareness workshop while wearing goggles that replicate the vision of people with different eye conditions.
