Delta Gamma became the 2nd National Sorority on Carnegie Tech’s campus in 1944. The group of women who became Delta Gamma’s had previously been a part of the local sorority Gamma Phi Sigma. Delta Gamma immediately became a strong chapter on campus.
In the 1950’s, many Delta Gamma’s were voted to be Carnival Queen or on the Carnival Court.
In 1969, Delta Gamma got a floor in the Morewood Gardens.
In the mid 70’s, Delta Gamma became the first sorority booth to make a profit.
In 1979, the Margaret Morrison sorority row opened, and Delta Gamma moved into the 105 suite. This move was exciting, as 16 sisters could live in the house .
In 1986, Delta Gamma reached 50 members for the first time.
In the 1990’s, Delta Gamma started to dominate at Greek Sing, winning 9 Greek Sing Competitions from 1992-2007. Also during this time, Delta Gamma was awarded Outstanding Sorority Award in 1994, 1996, 1998, 2001.
In 2005, Delta Gamma became the largest sorority on campus and in CMU History, with 82 members.
In July 2007, the women of Delta Gamma were happy to move to a beautiful house at 5031 Forbes Avenue. |
