History: The Boxing Club was recognized and founded on November 24, 2004. The organization began as a small club that attracted both undergraduate and graduate students from all parts of the campus. As The Boxing Club grew, the club provided a forum for student-members to discuss boxing as well as a source to split hefty HBO or Showtime PPV (Pay Per View) costs often associated with viewing championship events. Currently, the campus club is negotiating a partnership with local Pittsburgh boxing gyms, so that trainers could come to Carnegie Mellon to teach students how to box and to allow students to venture to the gyms to spar. The Boxing Club, of course, isn't necesarily isolated to those interested in the sweet science; it's open to everybody, especially those who seek a positive outlet for stress and aggression and a pathway to building confidence.
