Cooper's Lake Campground is private property with the right to
refuse or deny admission without cause of any kind. Infraction
of the established rules may result in curtailment of activities
and/or expulsion from the site without refund of any kind.
General Site Rules:
- No firearms, chemical weapons or fireworks are permitted.
- Do not cut shrubs or trees. Firewood is available in the camp store.
- Do not throw glass in the fire pits. Please fill in fire pits befire leaving the War.
- Pets are not permitted on the site. The only animals permitted are those belonging to the campground staff and pre-arranged "medical assist" pets.
- Do not block access to water spigots. If using a hose, provide both a vacuum breaker and a "Y" connector. Security may confiscate hoses found without these attachments. Do not leave hoses attached to the spigots.
- Do not use the Bath House sinks or the water spigots to wash dishes or clothing or to bathe.
- Dig a sink hole for waste water in your camp and fill it in before leaving the War.
- The speed limit in camp is 10 mph and it will be enforced.
- No swimming in the lake. Fishing in the lake is permitted. No boats are permitted in the lake during the period of the War.
- Blue hospital shirts are reserved to the Cooper's Lake staff.
- All deliveries to the site, with the exception of regular postal services, must be made through the Cooper's Lake Campground. You must meet all deliveries at the Troll Booth.
- Items left on-site after 3:00 pm Monday, August 22, 1994 will be considered rubbish and be disposed of.
Fire Safety Regulations:
- No open flames in tents.
- No tiki torches may be placed in hay bales.
- No bowl type tiki torches, only those with screw-on tops are permitted.
- Tiki torches must be set in a firm and stable fashion. Do not disregard the extreme hazard involved in knocking over a burning torch.
- Do not use Coleman fuel in tiki torches.
- There must be a fire extinguisher in line of sight for all fire pits.
- No fire pits on camp boundary lines.
- No fire pits in the Market areas.
- No flammable liquids may be thrown on fires.
- All camps must have at least one fire extinguisher and buckets of sand or water near each flame source.
- Do not burn the Pennsic road signs. The wood is treated and the fumes are dangerous.
- In the event of a fire: Use fire extinguishers, water, etc. toput out the fire, and send someone to Security to report the fire.
- Do not leave lit torches, candles, or campfires unattended. Security patrols are authorized to enter empty camps and extinguish open flames.
- Should the campground management determine that further restrictions are necessary, for any reason, such restrictions shall be announced and enforced.
Entry Policy:
- The medallion issued at the Troll Booth is your receipt to the campground.
- Be sure to wear your medallion at all times.
- Pennsic attendees must show the medallion to re-enter the site.
- Without the medallion, you must pay the entry fees again.
Alcohol:
- No one may offer for sale or otherwise distribute alcoholic beverages in any manner without proper license, subject to eviction from the site.
- The Pennsylvania drinking age is 21.
- Violation of laws regarding illegal substances will not be tolerated.
Smokers:
- No smoking is permitted in any of the buildings, class tents, or the merchant tents.
- Please dispose of cigarette butts in a trash receptacle and not on the ground.
- Be cautious when smoking in crowded areas, such as the market areas.
Garbage:
- Use the dumpsters for garbage disposal.
- Police your site before leaving the War and deposit all trash in the dumpsters.
- Please remember the SCA tradition of leaving a site cleaner than we found it.
- Aluminum cans should be replaced in the recycling boxes.
- Proceeds go to the Audobon Society.
Merchants:
- Merchants must have registered with the merchant autocrat prior to the War in order to sell at Pennsic.
- Merchant activity is restricted to the area shown on the Marketplace map.
- The Marketplace opens for sales on Saturday, August 13, 1994, and continues through Monday, August 21, 1994.
- Food merchant may open for business on Friday, August 12, 1993.
- Blanket merchants around the playground are restricted to outside the perimeter of the trees.
- Rental tents: Anyone renting a Grimmss tent should meet the Grimms representative at the camp store as per prior arrangement.
- Someone from the camp renting the tents must be on site, otherwise they will not be set up.
Construction Projects:
- All structures will be inspected on site.
- Cooper's Lake Campground management reserves the right to request that any structure be dismantled if they feel the structure represents an unacceptable safety risk.
Hay/Straw:
- Hay and straw may not be used as rushes orground cover in any camp without the express permission of the Autocrat and the Coopers.
- In the event such permission is given, the hay/straw must be cleaned off the ground before the individuals leave the War.
- Failure to do so may result in restrictions for the entire group next year.
- Hay bales will be picked up by the campground.
- Hay bales should not be burned!
Visitors:
- There are no rates for single day entry, including family, friends, and clergy.
- Clergy for legal weddings may be met at the Troll and escorted on and off site.
- The Autocrat and Troll must be notified well in advance of arrivals.
- Failure to do so may result in no admittance.
- Please do not invite family or friends for the day.
Quiet hours:
Will be enforced from 1 a.m to 7 a.m.
Picnic Tables:
- No picnic tables may be moved or claimed prior to August 8th.
- Please remember there are never enough of these tables and limit yourselves accordingly.
Swimming hole:
- There is an area designated as a family swimming hole where clothing is required.
- The "Classic" swimming hole remains clothing optional.
- Both swimming holes close after dark.
- Neither the S.C.A. nor the Cooper's Lake staff provide any lifeguards at the swimming areas.
- All use of swimming holes is strictly at your own risk.
- All minors under the age of eighteen (18) must have parental/adult supervision at the swimming holes!
- If any minors arrive without such supervision, Security may be called and they will be escorted back to their camp.
Minor Children:
- Children under age 18 who are not emancipated minors must be accompanied by a parent or court appointed guardian to be admitted to the War site.
- Individuals who attempt to circumvent this rule will be charged with trespassing and appropriate action will be taken.
- No one under the age of eighteen (18) may participate in any combat/fighting activities or any combat related activities.
- Anyone breaking this rule will be evicted from the War, as will their parents.
- Exceptions will only be made for emancipated minors with legal proof of their emancipation.
- Children under the age of eight (8) must wear the hospital bracelet issued by the Troll Booth at all times.
- Please remember that neither Pennsic nor Cooper's Lake provide any baby-sitting or day-care services and plan accordingly.
Parents: please remember - you are responsibile for your minor children at all times.
Playground Regulations:
- No children under the age of seven (7) may use any of the playground areas without parental or adult supervision.
- Children between the ages of seven (7) and twelve (12) may use the playground areas without parentalsupervision, but may be restricted from doing so if repeated complaints to Security (Coopers or War) are made about abusive or dangerous behavior.
- Neither Security nor merchants are responsible for unsupervised children, although Security may return such children to their parents' camp. Repeated violations of the supervision rule may result in the family being asked to leave the War.
- The War will not provide any baby-sitting or supervisory personnel for the playground areas or elsewhere. Parents are free to make individual arrangements for such services, however, this needs to be adult supervision. (An eight year old is not a responsible supervisor for a four year old.) Children are expected to know who is responsible for them and they will be considered unsupervised if they do not know.
- There will be a curfew imposed on children twelve (12) and under at dark. After this time, they should not be out of their own camp without parental supervision. Parents whose children are in violation of this curfew risk being asked to leave the War. Parents are responsible for knowing where their children are.
- Repeated complaints to Security about unsafe practices concerning children will be passed on to Cooper's Security and possibly mundane authorities.
Please remember that we are an organization based upon principles of chivalry. Be considerate of both your children and other gentles. A variety of children's activities have been planned. Parents are encouraged to become involved and enjoy the classes with your children.
Vehicle Regulations
- Any car parked for longer than necessary to unload, set up camp, and make one run to town for supplies, in the campground after Sunday, August 7, 1994 is liable to be towed. Any car parked in such a way as to block access to porta-johns for cleaning is liable to be towed at any time. During War week (August 13-21), no cars will be permitted in camp for any reason other than to unload and set up camp. All cars parked in camp will be towed.
- No private golf carts, mopeds or other motorized transportation are permitted in the campground. Motorized wheelchairs are exempted from this policy.
- Cars will be towed to a holding area away from the site. It will be necessary for the owner to pay the towing company to reclaim the car. No cars will be towed to the parking lot unless the towing is requested due to mechanical breakdown. Car owners are liable for all towing fees. Repeat violators will be subject to higher towing fees.
- Security will mark cars that are to be towed by placing red tape on the driver's side window. One strip is a warning to move the car, two strips mean that a tow truck has been called. Removing the strips will not stop towing as records will be kept on file at Security Point.
- Cars parked in the parking lot in such a way as to restrict access or to endanger other vehicles will be towed. Cooper's Lake Campground reserves the right to remove from the parking lot vehicles that are improperly parked within the lot.
- No cars may be hidden by making a parking area inside cloth camp perimeter walls.
- No cars may be kept in the handicapped camping area. There will be handicapped parking available by prior arrangement with the Disabled Services Coordinator.
- Cars in camp after dark must drive with the lights on for safety reasons.
- The camp speed limit is 10 mph and must be observed.
Trespassing
Trespassing is a punishable offense. Trespassers may be subjected to the full letter of the law.
Anyone involved in gatecrashing will be refused entrance at Pennsic the following year.
