BFASA

The Black Faculty and Staff Association (BFASA) is an organization made up of Carnegie Mellon University faculty and staff, whose proposal is to foster a sense of unity, community and support;  to enhance the quality of the African American experience at Carnegie Mellon and to act as a link between the university and the community at large.

BFASA was introduced to the campus on August 25, 1992.  There are currently 6 Executive Board Members (see below).  BFASA is not just these 6 folks; we rely on a number of people to help plan all the activities BFASA sponsors.

Sister-to-Brother

What is the Sister-to-Brother Luncheon?

On December 9, 1993 we had the first Sister-to-Sister Luncheon.  It was originally held 4 times per year.  Sometimes we had guest speakers, sometimes we shared frustrations and/or good news.  Sometimes we just celebrated being able to get together.  The Brothers felt left out, so we invited them to a Sister-to-Brother luncheon on February 23, 1996.  We wanted to show them how it was done for their Brother-to-Brother luncheon. Well, there's no Brother-to-Brother session yet but we haven't given up!
